Know if Your Project Requires Approval

In the UAE, obtaining approvals from authorities such as DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, AADC, or Etihad WE is essential for major electrical modifications in existing buildings. Specifically, in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, special regulations govern the installation of EV chargers, which necessitate the use of ADDC/AADC energy meters. Acquiring these meters involves a complex approval process.

In other states like Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates, a dedicated energy meter may not be mandatory for EV chargers. However, certain cases may require approvals from relevant authorities for additional load or modifications to electrical distribution panels.

At Copak, we offer a comprehensive solution for obtaining approvals from all the necessary authorities, including DEWA, ADDC, AADC, SEWA, and Etihad WE. Our expertise ensures a smooth and efficient approval process for your electrical works. Contact us today for a free consultation and let us guide you through the requirements and procedures to ensure compliance and successful project implementation.

Energy Meter for EV Chargers in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain
DEWA ADDC Approval for EV Chargers by Copak

Energy Meter for EV Chargers

If you reside in Abu Dhabi/Al Ain or operate a business within the emirate and charge electric vehicles at your property, it is essential to register your EV charger. This enables ADDC or AADC to install a dedicated meter for accurate measurement and billing specific to your charger.

The Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC) administer the tariff for EV charging services. Following registration, EV charger owners are required to pay a fixed monthly fee of AED 92 until the installation of an ADDC or AADC meter. Subsequently, billing will be based on the actual consumption recorded by the meter.
